To find a site near you, visit Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico. You can also visit the HSD website to find more information on The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) or the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for seniors age 60+.
The emergency allotment ends 30 days after the new federal laws and guidelines go into effect. For example, if the new laws go into effect in March, then April will be the last month you will receive the SNAP extra benefits (emergency allotment).
The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) is working with community partners to provide renewal support to existing elder/senior SNAP customer. HSD is also working on an outreach program to connect seniors to The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for seniors age 60+, which are food box programs. HSD is also connecting seniors to the Aging and Long-Term Services Department at aging.nm.gov for additional support.
The federal funding that is currently being used to pay for the emergency allotments will be redirected to implement a permanent summer EBT program starting in 2024. This program is different from the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Program (P-EBT).
